Bradshaw Interceptor
Bradshaw Pipeline and Road Improvement Project Section 6B
Overview
SRCSD's Bradshaw 5B Interceptor Project, pictured above, utilized the same style of open-trench pipeline installation that will be used on this project.
The Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (SRCSD) and the Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SACDOT) are working together on a combined sewer pipeline and road improvement project. The combined project will ease congestion, improve traffic safety and provide sewer capacity for planned growth in the project area and the northeast area of Sacramento County.
The SRCSD is installing an 84-to-108-inch diameter sewer pipeline along Bradshaw Road and Jackson Highway. The pipeline project is one link in the SRCSD's Master Plan to provide sewerage capacity for future growth in the Sacramento region.
At the same time, SACDOT is constructing road improvements along Bradshaw Road between Florin Road and Morrison Creek. Roadway improvements include:
widening Bradshaw Road from two to four lanes;
adding bicycle lanes;
constructing a 12-foot-wide raised landscaped median along Bradshaw Road;
widening the Elder Creek bridge; and
modifying existing Bradshaw Road traffic signals at the intersections of Florin Road and Elder Creek Road.
All lanes on Bradshaw Road are expected to be operational by the end of summer 2007.
Bradshaw Start Up Work
A 6.4 mile portion of the Bradshaw Interceptor pipe has been activated from the Bradshaw Central Junction Structure at Elk Grove-Florin Road near Gerber Road to the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (SRWTP).
An additional five miles of mostly 108-inch interceptor pipe is expected to be activated July 2007. Activation of that line has added much needed capacity to the Central Interceptor. That will extend the Bradshaw Interceptor to Jackson Highway while adding capacity to both the Northeast Interceptor at Mayhew and the Arden Pump Station.
All 12 start-up sites have been completed.
Project Schedule
Construction is ongoing and is scheduled for completion in summer 2007.
As of Thanksgiving 2006, all 84- and 108-inch pipe has been installed, site restoration and road widening work will continue through the end of the year.
Project Funding
This project will not result in any direct charges to property owners.
The pipeline improvements will be funded through SRCSD impact and user fees.
Funding for the road project is through your 1/2 cent Transportation Sales Tax and developer fees.
