Winning Designs for Upper NW Interceptor Section 9

Design Winners

What did SRCSD and construction crews do when they had to install large sewer pipelines in front of Citrus Height Elementary School?

Got the students involved!

The construction team met with the principal, students and teachers to explain the UNWI 9 project and its importance. And, perhaps most exciting, explained how the specialized construction equipment keeps the project moving forward. The students are able to see the crews and equipment in front of their school, so it was appropriate to understand how everything worked together to create a well-constructed sewer pipeline!

Then, the team asked the students to design and illustrate their own machines to help the crew. The students illustrated their creative machines and construction crews chose three winning designs. The names of the winning machine designs are now painted on the machines working outside the school.

The winning designs were from Mr. Price’s 5th & 6th grade class:
