The world needs water. As humans, we drink it, wash with it, recreate in it and use it for growing crops, just to name a few uses. The natural world is sustained with water as well, but balancing all of these uses is a challenge.
In California, the challenge to balance water use may be even more sensitive than in other parts of the world. The weather can shift dramatically between periods of intense moisture and extreme drought. This unpredictable weather, combined with a continually growing state population, means that California will have to invest in creative ways to manage its water supply. That is why the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (SRCSD) has developed a Water Recycling Program.
SRCSD’s cutting-edge Water Recycling Program is the first of its kind in Sacramento County and provides an environmentally responsible and safe water supply for irrigation, industrial uses and environmental restoration. While meeting these needs, increased use of recycled water can reduce the region’s dependence on groundwater and surface water supplies for non-drinking water uses. Finally, water recycling can help with Clean Water Act compliance and meeting future discharge regulations.
Given all these great benefits to water recycling, it’s easy to see why SRCSD is committed to continuing its investment in water recycling. Come inside to see what else is going on with our Water Recycling Program!
