Target
A numeric target has not been formally set at this time. However, the Biosolids Recycling Facility is intended to handle about 25% of the biosolids generated at SRWTP.
| Assessment: The Biosolids Recycling Facility began operation in late 2004. In 2006, production levels were increased, due to a need to temporarily reduce the amount of biosolids sent to the dedicated land disposal facilities. In 2007, production was reduced to get back closer to the long term intent of recycling about 25% of its biosolids. |

Purpose
This service level represents SRCSD's commitment to environmental stewardship through biosolids recycling.
Critical Activities
The production from the existing Biosolids Recycling Facility (BRF) is linked to the capacity of the equipment, contractual obligation, and some discretion on how much material is delivered from the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant to the BRF. It is expected that this will remain at a relatively constant level for the foreseeable future. Major changes in production levels will be dependent on future planning decisions to expand the BRF or to implement new biosolids recycling projects.
