Treatment Plant Tours

Treatment Plant TourSRCSD offers a ninety-minute guided walking tour that provides a fascinating introduction to today's high-tech wastewater industry. Tours are especially popular with school groups, civic organizations and children. Visitors to the treatment plant will see:

  • How wastewater is processed
  • A portion of our more than two miles of underground tunnels
  • Gigantic tanks that hold as much as two million gallons of wastewater
  • Our plant's computerized control center
  • A bird's eye view of the 2,400 acres of natural wetlands, grasslands, riparian forest and farmlands surrounding our plant

Especially for Teachers
Many teachers appreciate the way our tour makes lessons about the wastewater process and water ecology come alive for students. Sample lesson plans and educational resources are available to teachers upon request.

School and youth groups please note that parental consent is required for minors; the tour coordinator will mail you the form upon your reservation. For safety reasons, children under eight years of age may not tour the plant.

Specialized Tours
